History of the Shipyard

Josef Martin senior

It all began in Radolfzell 1932

Josef Martin senior combined his passion for sailing and enthusiasm for wood in an ideal way.
In 1932 he founded a yacht and boatyard in Radolfzell on Lake Constance.
He possessed a sense of beauty and harmonious lines, but also a great knowledge of the best designs. With this he created yachts, which still continue to inspire their owners or their descendents today.

After the War

The continual expansion of the boatyard began soon after the War ended.

History

Here, you can see, in the 1950s, the newly built jettys for the steadily increasing number of yachts.

Along with service work there was the repair and maintenance of 6- and 8-metre-R-Yachts as well as "Nationaler Kreuzer 45" (German national cruiser (class) 45).

In addition, yachts were built from scratch and existing yachts were upgraded.

More and more motor boats and cruising centreboarders also came.

Furthermore, elegant rowing boats were built.

Josef Martin senior died unexpectedly in 1967.

Following the father´s death, the mother ran the business up until 1973 while Josef Martin junior was completing his apprenticeship.
