Towing tank trials are especially worthwhile in the case of regatta yachts.

Rudder

Each rudder position allows for an exact analysis of the behaviour of the currents.

Waves

Here, in the large facility you can see exactly how the bow wave and stern wave behave in relation to one another.

Extreme heeling

Additionally, you can see clearly how your yacht behaves in extreme conditions in the mirror image on the other side of the towing tank.

Stern wave

In the side view it is clear just how deep the wave trough can become. This has an influence on the rudder, amogst other things.

Water outline

In these series of tests, you can simulate exactly up to which heeling and rudder position the water flows off the stern laminar, and from what point it becomes turbulent.
