Wooden model keel

To produce a cement mould for the keel, into which the liquid cement is poured later on, we first of all need an exact wooden copy of the lead keel.

The overall form is made up of individual handcrafted parts, whose significance is not clear at first glance.

Keel fin

Here, you can recognise part of the assembled keel fin which will later be attached to the keel.

Joining the individual parts together

While joining the individual wooden parts together, you can slowly recognise the shape of the keel.

Gluing

All the parts are carefully glued together so that the negative form bears up to the load of pouring in cement, and also matches the actual keel one hundred percent.
